Initial Reaction: The Great Mouse Detective

This is going to be a new insertion into my reviews. Often, I find that after watching a film, I have a different opinion than when I write the review the next day. For instance, after The Black Cauldron, my initial response was that it was actually pretty good, the characters weren't great but the movie itself was enjoyable entertainment. But after spending a day thinking it over, I came to the different conclusion that not only weren't the characters great, but they were awful and the movie itself terrible.
Think of it as, the difference between how you feel immediately after a great meal, and then two hours later.

So then, an initial reaction to The Great Mouse Detective.

Ratigan is the best character out of a fairly decent cast, especially with the contrast of how he is at his first appearance and at the finale. Basil is interesting, if not impuslive. He seems like your average hero  with the intellect of Holmes.

The story feels like your standard action/mystery but has a few scenes that stand out.

Catchy songs.

Initially, I'd put the film at the #10 spot.

Will that change? find out tomorrow.
