Right in the middle of 2005, April 8 to be exact, the second
Kim Possible movie premiered on the
Disney Channel. So the Drama was originally
designed to be the series finale to the show, but audiences demanded it be
brought back. It starred Christy Carlson Romano, Will Friedle, Nancy
Cartwright, Tahj Mowry, Ricky Ullman, Raven, Kirsten Storms, John DiMaggio, and
Nicole Sullivan.
Kim (Romano) is coming to the realization that her superhero
life is keeping her from a steady relationship and the closest thing she can
get is Ron (Friedle). However, Eric (Ullman) shows up and they wind up dating
and Kim plans on going with him to the prom. Meanwhile, Dr. Drakken (DiMaggio)
is getting ready to unleash his most diabolical plan yet.
So the Drama has a
very simplistic plot, but still manages to be a very fun movie, especially in
its climax.
The plot basically consists of Kim finding a date while
Drakken takes over Bueno Nacho and a Japanese toy company in his efforts to
take over the world. Kim’s date is also a syntho-drone created by Drakken and
Ron and Kim end up getting into a relationship at the end. Very simple and
easily resolved. But the journey is so much fun.
Seeing Ron lose his mind at everything changing, namely Kim
getting a boyfriend and everything about his favorite fast food joint becoming
different is hilarious. Also the fight scene at the end is everything the
series needed to go out on. Kim gets an experimental battle suit that can
repair itself and Shego is electrocuted. The original story actually had her
getting killed off for real, but test audiences were horrified and she wound up
surviving. The final battle is also in the rain.
So the Drama was a
fitting end to the Kim Possible
series, but it was still great that there was another season. One that wasn’t
horrible. #32
